When compared to four leading competitors, Valio’s high-protein UHT ready-to-drink (RTD) prototype was rated the highest. Consumers appreciated the thicker texture, appearance, flavor, and mouthfeel of the drink. Nearly 70% of participants found the flavor and sweetness of Valio’s RTD prototype to be ideal, the highest score among competitors.
“We presented samples of the RTD prototype at the Growth Asia Summit and Vitafoods Asia in September, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees were astonished by the flavor and texture, noting that it tasted more like a regular chocolate shake than a protein-enriched drink,” says Meri Härmälä, International B2B Marketing Manager at Valio.
The consumer test highlighted that flavor is the primary purchase criterion, with other important factors being a concise ingredient list, high protein content, and the absence of added sugars.
